Genshin Impact's combat is built on elemental reactions, apply water, then lightning, and the interaction does the damage. Party composition therefore matters more than any individual character's numbers, and building a team that chains reactions cleanly is the game's actual depth. Exploration is climbing-and-gliding open world done properly, with a map that has expanded substantially since launch.

It is a gacha game and the character acquisition is genuinely random, which is the thing to weigh before starting. The counterbalance is that the free roster is fully capable of clearing the game's content, the story and world are free entirely, and there is no energy system blocking exploration. Play it for the world; treat the banner as optional.
