Warframe

Warframe moves better than almost anything else in the genre. Bullet-jumping, wall-latching and sliding chain into a traversal system that turns a corridor mission into something closer to a platformer, and once it clicks the game stops being a shooter and starts being about routing. Digital Extremes has spent over a decade building on that foundation, and the result is enormous, open zones, space combat, an entirely separate melee game, several full-length story arcs.

The catch is the same as it has always been: onboarding. The game does a poor job explaining its crafting economy, its currencies or where to go next, and the first ten hours are noticeably worse than the hundred after them. Everything except cosmetics can be earned, and trading between players covers the rest.
