Best browser games

No install, no launcher. Open a tab and play.

Browser games earn their place by removing every obstacle between wanting to play and playing. There is no download, no account gate on most of them, and no 90GB patch. That constraint has produced some genuinely excellent design, when you cannot lean on production budget, the loop has to carry the game.

This category spans two eras. The .io wave of the mid-2010s proved a browser could host a hundred-player arena. The older, slower browser strategy games proved it could host a war that lasts a year. Both are still going.

What to expect

  • Instant play, most entries load in seconds with no account required.
  • Lower system requirements than anything else on the site.
  • Sessions that fit a lunch break, and a few that quietly eat a month.
