Strategy

The most-played strategy game in the world, for better and worse.
League of Legends is more approachable than its main rival and no less deep once you are past the surface. Matches run around 30 minutes, champions are distinct enough that mastering three is a real project, and Riot patches on a two-week cycle that keeps the metagame moving continuously, which is either the appeal or the exhaustion, depending on how you feel about relearning matchups.
It is worth being straightforward about the other thing: League's ranked environment has a reputation for hostility that the developer has spent fifteen years trying to fix with mixed results. The game itself is excellent. Whether you enjoy playing it depends significantly on your tolerance for four strangers.
League of Legends sits in our best strategy games ranking at position 5.
