About Legends of Runeterra

Legends of Runeterra's structural idea is that turns alternate within a round, you play a card, then your opponent responds, then you respond to that. There is no long uninterrupted turn, which means bluffing and holding priority matter constantly rather than at fixed moments. It is a meaningfully different rhythm from every other digital card game.

Its other distinction is economic. The progression system hands out cards and wildcards at a rate that makes building a specific competitive deck a matter of weeks rather than money, and you can target exactly the cards you need rather than opening packs and hoping. Riot has scaled back live support for the PvP side, which is a genuine caveat, but the game and its economy remain unusually player-friendly.

Why play it

  • Both players act within every round, so no turn is spent waiting.
  • Wildcards let you craft the exact cards you want, no pack-opening lottery.
  • The single-player Path of Champions mode is substantial on its own.
